Tips on selecting travel gear

Do i Need an Xbox wireless internet adaptor to use a wifi adapter to get on xbox live?

I have a wifi usb adapter that I use on my computer can I use that on my xbox 360 with out buying the xbox adapter?

Doubtful. Pretty sure the XBOX has propriatory setup that precludes using other adapters. Sucks but there you go. I have seen workarounds but no idea if they work. No links handy. Google should turn up some instructions:
