Which Native American Tribes were hanging around the Oregon Trail when it was still being traveled?
I am writing a book about a girl on the Oregon Trail and I was wondering which Native Americans she might have encountered near the middle of the trail. (Wyoming/Idaho) I guess another part of the question could be when did they start putting Native Americans on Reservations?
There were many tribes along the Oregon Trail. The Shoshone, Nez Perce, Cayuse and the Northern Paiute were just a few.
